Leadership Statement
We believe that a leader is someone who is results-driven, taking into consideration the relational aspect of counseling and a positive school climate. The leader will collaborate will all stakeholders in order to formulate and implement a shared vision for which they will be accountable. They will be present for student and faculty and aware of the needs of the school. For the purposes of our counseling suite we will elect a lead cousnelor every two years and it will be based on a democratic vote. Should the lead counselor fail to embody our vision of leadership a replacement may be elected.

In order to support and enable all counselors to be effective members of the counseling team, mentoring will be provided by the lead counselor for all new counselors joining the team. Mentoring will include supervision and team-building exercises.

Management Agreements
Our School Counseling Department signed the following management agreement with the administration at Baker Elementary in order to emphasize our roles and responsibilities within the school. We found that signing a management agreement every year supports our role as change agents within the school and ensures that we are focused on the right goals and priorities. It can be difficult to get support from administration or to find time to conduct classroom guidance lessons or collect and evaluate data, but we find that a detailed management agreement helps to provide the support that we need in each of these areas.
